Gökmen is an Assistant Professor and qualified lawyer who focuses on corporate law, competition law, intellectual property law, advertising law, media law and international commercial law.
He teaches Commercial Law, Law of Obligations, Advertising Law, Competition Law and Business Law at commercial law chamber of Yıldız Technical University Business Administration Department. He also lectures Commercial Enterprise Law, Commercial Papers Law for LL.B. students; Company Law and Unfair Competition Law to LL.M. and Ph.D. students at several foundation universities.
In 2003, he graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Law. He obtained an LL.M. degree at Marmara University, Graduate School of Social Sciences, Private Law Programme in 2006. He completed his Ph.D. (“magna cum laude”) in the Faculty of Law within the University of Zurich, where he specialized in commercial law and international business. He wrote his thesis “Das türkische Konzernrecht im Lichte des schweizerischen und deutschen Rechts” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Peter Nobel.
During his academic career, he received scholarships from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) and Max-Planck-Gesellschaft. In addition, he pursued his career as a visiting fellow in Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Privatrecht.
In addition to his academic career, he advises private companies within a variety of sectors that include energy, construction, informatics, e-commerce, entertainment, textile and furniture, tourism and chemistry as well as public service players such as municipalities and commercial chambers. Since more than 10 years, he has been acting as an expert in commercial law disputes at Istanbul, Istanbul Anadolu and Istanbul Bakırköy Courts.
